Young Boys (ISKCON Youth Club) gathered at various junctions inside and outside the temple to assist the temple activites. Several of the boys were even found carring donnnas (leaf cups) and sweet rice and distributing to the public for free along the street.

GURU ISSUE WITHIN ISKCON a VISHNAVA APARADHA?

GURU ISSUE WITHIN ISKCON a VISHNAVA APARADHA?

After I watched this video I was really perplexed as eventhough I knew about the Guru Issue within ISKCON (International Society For Krishna Consiousness) I had not taken it much seriously as one of the devotee in ISKCON BANGALORE His Grace Amitasana Das had informed in one of the lectures not to worry about it and just concentrate on our services.

Eventually I took it seriously and started supporting and I feel after much controversies with lot of people I feel that I facing much of the consequences.

I am wondering "Why people do such things that when one is not appointed to act in such an such a thing why in the world a person does so?"

I belive I may not be the only one who is or may have faced consequences in life but there would several others also.

I see this to be taken as a Vaishnava aparadha as such as blastpheming a devotee, hurting the sprotual master in whatsoever matter it may be.....

The consequences may also include unable to chant the hare krishna mahamantra.

I would like to know what do you feel about it.

Please do not leave a response or a comment based on ego, let it be unbaised and must never be a curse sort of a thing.

Remember, we are all devotees so your comments will be heard around the globe and affected all the devotees.

Stories of ISKCON Book distribution 1

"Srila Prabhupada used to stress a lot on book distribution

"

ISKCON Book Distribution Stories - 1

One day when we were going to distribute Srila Prabhupada's books we had to board ISKCON book distribution vehicle and we left the temple by 9:30 in the morning to a place nearby to the temple in BANGALORE.

We reached there by 10:00 in the morning and by the time we setup the stall it was 10:30.

Then we held some small books in hand and started to call out people who passed by as it was next to the bus stop, lot of passers by were to be found which made me feel I could sell as many books a possible without even having any experience before I set out in the world alone though a dedicated devotee was along with us.

After the tedious sun rays hit my had I felt I could no longer withstand the heat and neither did I sell a single book till then.

It was already half a day passed by and the devotee asked me to have prasadam which I did without asking a single question but I was all along thinking how could I sell more books?

This thing struck me as the devotee was easily selling books without any problems and lots of people passing by I had practically no idea how about to go with the sales.

I kept on watching Srila Prabhupada's face on the vehicle and feared that he may feel bad so I had to shout and run along with marketong ideas and hold Bagawad Gita As it is and issue offers. Some how or other distribute the books and please Prabhupada.

As the day passed to evening I stood only looking at the devotee's face who was simply distributing books upon books and I was practically doing here one there one.

Finally I had to pleade Prabhupada and Sri Krishna in mind to help me out to atleast distribute some books.

Some hope signs arrived in the night as there were so many people than I had imagined, it was here I thought that I have got to do something.

No hope arrived as it was just my first day in book distribution. I could barely sell some books and as time approached we had to packup and return back to temple ISKCON BANGALORE by boarding the vehicle back.

This was done by Srila Prabhuapada and is stil carried out anf followed by his bonafide followers under the guidelines he setup still now.

Navaratri – Celebrating the victory of good over evil

Navaratri – Celebrating the victory of good over evil

Navaratri is a festival dedicated to the worship of Goddess Shakti. The word Navaratri literally means nine nights in Sanskrit, nava meaning nine and ratri meaning nights.  During these nine nights and ten days, nine forms of Shakti/Devi are worshiped. The 10th day is commonly referred to as Vijayadashami or Dussehra. The festival culminates with Dussehra, the victory of good over evil. The beginning of spring and the beginning of autumn are two very important junctions of climatic and solar influence. These two periods are taken as sacred opportunities for the worship of the Divine Mother. The dates of the festival are determined according to the lunar calendar.

Usually in late September/early October each year. This year, Navaratri starts on October 5 and ends on October 13.

The festival is celebrated all over India but in different ways. The traditional dances of Gujarat, known as garba and dandiya raas, are performed in circles with dancers dressed up in colorful clothes. Small, decorated sticks called dandiyas are used in the dandiya raas.

In Delhi, the feature of Navaratri celebrations are the Ramlila plays that take place all over the city. Towering effigies of the demon Ravana are burnt as part of these performances on Dussehra.

Over the course of the nine days, the Mother Goddess is worshiped in her various forms -- Durga, Lakshmi, and Sarasvati.

Each goddess is worshiped for three days in turn, starting with Durga who destroys negative tendencies. Next is Lakshmi who bestows good virtues and fortune, and last is Sarasvati, who instills wisdom and spiritual knowledge. The worship, accompanied by fasting, takes place in the mornings. Evenings are for feasting and dancing.

The Dusshera celebration of Mysore in Karnataka is a veritable extravaganza! Chamundi, a form of Durga, is the family deity of the Maharaja of Mysore. It’s a wonderful scene to watch the grand procession of elephants, horses and courtiers.
